Police from Ongata Rongai managed to recover 26 sacks of bhang stored in the church.

Police officers in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado county are investigating an incident where bhang valued at Sh6,240,000 was discovered in a church.

A report filed at Ongata Rongai police station indicated that police discovered 26 sacks of bhang kept in a church.

The raid, which saw two people arrested was occasioned by tip-off from members of the public.

The two suspects arrested are Muyumbu Peter, aged 37yrs and Geoffrey Gilado aged 45 yrs.

They are believed to be followers of a local church called African B Devine Church.

"Acting on a tip-off from members of the public from Kware informal settlement, police from Ongata Rongai managed to recover 26 sacks of dry substances suspected to be bang with a street value of approximately Sh6,240,000," the police report stated.

The substances were recovered alongside one carcass of a goat that had been slaughtered by two suspects.

"The two had slaughtered a goat belonging to one Jessie Muthiga Albert. The exhibits were found stored in the said local church," the police report added.

"The two suspects were rescued from the irate members of the public who had subjected them to mob injustice."

The two were rushed to Saitoti Hospital where they were admitted in serious condition. The exhibits are kept at the station store.
