A suspect linked to the stabbing of a Rongo University student has been arrested.

The suspect, Titus Limangura, was arrested on Thursday by officers from the National Police Service.

Limangura is said to have stabbed Abel Chumba, his fellow Third-year student at Rongo University.

The university’s vice-chancellor Prof Samuel Gudu said the two had gone out for a drink when they disagreed and started fighting.

“We are very shocked by the incident that happened on Wednesday night. We understand that they fought while they were drinking. The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed his fellow student,” Gudu said.

The deceased was a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Journalism program at the School of Information, Communication, and Media Studies.

“On behalf of the student’s fraternity, I wish to convey our deepest sympathy and condolences to his family and relatives. May the Lord give them strength to overcome the challenge. May his soul rest in eternal peace,”  Rongo University Dean of Students Ben Asugo stated.

The body of the deceased was taken to Tabaka Mission Hospital Mortuary for preservation.
