A man is being held by police in Kisii on allegations that he stabbed his lover, a student of Kisii Polytechnic, to death in the Jogoo area, Kisii County.

The suspect identified, who is said to have come from Migori, was allegedly harangued by allegations of his girlfriend, named Lucy, cheating.

Police however say the two are reported to have separated.

"We received a phone call that some students from Kisii Polytechnic were fighting. We dispatched the police immediately and upon arrival they discovered that a lady had been killed. The lady is said to be an ex-girlfriend of the man who visited her during which they quarreled leading to a stabbing tragedy," Kisii town police OCPD said.

He allegedly stabbed the lady at least seven times to death at her house in Kisii.

Witnesses said the deceased had knife wounds on the chest and the lower abdomen.

The boyfriend who is said to be running a business in Kisii and also working for a local company was cornered by Lucy's fellow students during which he was mobbed.

He was saved by police officers who took him to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for medication where he was treated and discharged after which he was arrested.

The body of the deceased is lying at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Morgue.
