A man had gone to deposit Sh200,000 when the armed robber resurfaced and asked him and the MPesa agent to hand over the cash.

Drama ensued in Rurur Town on Friday after an armed robber raided a Mpesa shop and stole. 

A police report filed at Ruiru Police Station indicates that the armed robber accosted a client who was depositing Sh200,000 at the MPesa agent and demanded the two surrender the cash. 

"It was reported by one Peter Kimani Njenga that he had gone to deposit Sh200,000 at quick call Solutions Ruiru when one man armed with a pistol ordered him and the MPesa attendant namely Mary Anne Njoki to surrender the money he was depositing," the police report states.  

It was then that the man who was depositing the cash handed it over and ran out of the shop.

The shop owner, Njoki, however, shouted and raised alarm over the incident forcing members of the public to come to her rescue.

The armed man came out of the shop shooting and ran towards Equity Bank where he was arrested by the bank guards and disarmed.

Sh54,100 was recovered during the arrest.

"He was handed over to DCI Ruiru who had responded to the shooting with his team. It was later established that the robber Nahason Ekidor named is attached to Ruiru recce company," the OB report further stated.

He was armed with a Glock pistol s/ no BGL.018 with 14 rounds of 9mm. He had already fired one around.
