Harambee Stars fell 2-1 to Gabon in the match that was played at the Stade de Franceville.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has vowed to help the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) enhance its capabilities after it failed to air the Gabon versus Kenya match on Thursday.

In an update via X on Friday, November 17, CS Namwamba applauded the national broadcaster for apologizing to Kenyans saying it is a show of character.

“A sincere apology is a show of character. Thank you KBC Channel 1. We will help enhance your capabilities, after so many years of neglect,” said Ababu.

KBC in a statement said it failed to air the Harambee Stars match due to a technical satellite challenge.

The corporation added that it has rectified the issue and looks forward to uninterrupted broadcasting.

“We sincerely apologize to Kenyans for failing to transmit the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match between Gabon and Kenya on 16 November 2023 at 7 PM due to a technical satellite challenge. Kindly note that this has been rectified and we look forward to uninterrupted broadcast in the future,” the statement read.

CS Namwamba earlier apologized to Kenyans saying the national broadcaster led Kenyans down by failing to air the match.

"We owe Kenyans a sincere, unequivocal, and unambiguous apology for this disappointment. You sure deserve better. Poleni Sana,” the Sports CS said.
