He however noted that he is working on a coordination and rescue mission to help residents affected by the floods.

“Due to the flash floods caused by heavy rains experienced lately across Mombasa County including Nyali Constituency, we will be suspending all Nyali NG-CDF activities as we desperately work on our coordination response and rescue mission towards residents affected by the flooding,” he stated.

The UDA MP urged Mombasa residents to exercise caution while on the road and be vigilant due to the floods.

The statement comes after Mombasa Governor  Abdulswamad Nassir said he has deployed a rescue team to deal with emergencies across the county.

“The country is currently experiencing unprecedented rainfall that resulted in widespread flooding. The rains have persisted since yesterday here in Mombasa. Our rescue teams are on hand to deal with emergencies,” he said in a statement.

The Mombasa Governor at the same time asked residents in need of medical and rescue assistance to reach out to the county disaster team through 0707911911 or 0788911911.

A video seen by Nairobi Leo showed commuters and motorists struggling to wade the waters as others swam through the water.
