Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir and his Siaya counterpart James Orengo have clashed with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over the disbursement of El Nino Funds.
It all began after the DP asked Counties to leverage their resources in assisting victims of floods further alluding that the Government had disbursed funds to counties that can help solve the flooding issues.
But in tough rejoinder, the two ODM governors rebuffed claims by DP Gachagua terming his remarks as reckless and untrue.

While reacting to Gachagua, Nassir told off Gachaagua saying the county had not received even a penny.
He termed the remarks by the Gachagua as an attack at home over his stand on the port of Mombasa.
“There have been claims that the National Government has released 10 billion shillings for El Niño response to the counties,” Ahmednasir said.
“For the avoidance of doubt, despite the challenges, the County Government of Mombasa has managed its disaster response from our own source revenue and with the support of the Red Cross, other Non-Governmental Organizations and independent entities with goodwill.
Nassir further urged Parliament and the Controller of Budget should investigate these claims of disbursement of Sh10 billion and clarify to the people of Kenya where the money went.
On his part Orengo said:
“If you want to know the character of a dishonest is that he is not truthful. He is liar and never keeps his promises. The Kenya Kwanza Government is a dishonest government.”
The Deputy President while distributing relief food in Kisauni called on Mombasa county to release funds to help flood victims.
He said the ex-chequer had allocated over Sh10 billion to the county which is enough to solve the drought issue.
"Sisi katika serikali kuu tutajaribu kununua chakula, lakini tunataka pia County government of Mombasa, Governor Nassir pia atoe pesa anunue chakula wananchi wapewe," he said.
"Hapa Mombasa ndio tuko na shida, ndio county government ambayo haijatoa chakula kwa wananchi. Mimi ni mtu wa kusema ukweli."
Gachagua spoke at Barawa village, Kisauni, while distributing food and non-food items to families displaced by the long rains. Their homes were submerged by flood waters and household items were destroyed.
More than 1,000 families affected by the ongoing El Nino rains in Kisauni, Mombasa County on Tuesday benefited with relief food from the government as Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua asked the devolved units to enhance support to victims of the disaster.
