Senator Cherargei has been at loggerheads with CS Murkomen since October. 

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei was ejected from the Senate on Wednesday, November 22 after causing drama during the plenary session of Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.

The drama began when Senator Cherargei complained that he was not allowed to ask CS Murkomen questions despite arriving at the chamber early.

Garissa Senator Abdul Haji, who was chairing the plenary, asked Cherargei to wait for Murkomen to answer questions that had already been asked before he could ask more.

“You can not raise a point of order, let him finish the questions then you can rise,” Haji told the Nandi Senator.

However, Cherargei got up from his seat, claiming that the CS for Transport was abusing him at funerals and that he needed to raise questions about roads on behalf of Nandi residents.

“The CS has been insulting me at funerals…I am here on behalf of the people of Nandi, I must speak here. This is the issue of roads,” the UDA senator stated.

Haji then ordered Cheraragei to get out of the Senate saying he was interfering with the business of the house.

“Senator Cherargei I have actually shown you the dashboard. At this point I will have to ask you to leave the house, please leave the house so that we can continue with the business,” Haji directed.

CS Murkomen, before continuing to answer questions, mentioned that he left the Senate maintaining high standards, adding that they should be maintained.

“I left this house maintaining a very high level of dignity and I think that should be kept because we really trust and cherish you,” said Murkomen.

The Transport CS has been at loggerheads with Senator Cherargei since they clashed at a funeral in Nandi in October.

The Nandi senator had objected to the awarding of a road tender to a non-local contractor in the county.

His views did not sit well with CS Murkomen, who said everyone was being treated equally in the tender process.

The Transport CS stated that if President Ruto had used Cherargei's brain, the country would have been in crisis.

“I want to teach you something. If the President was using a brain like yours, we would not be having the country now,” Murkomen told the Nandi Senator.
