"I fell a victim, roughed up and seriously assaulted. Sustained injuries on my left foot and arm," 

Fafi Member of Parliament Salah Yakub has called on Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to take action after he was beaten by police officers at Nyayo House.

In a statement via X on Monday, December 11, Yakub claimed he sustained injuries non his leg and arm after being roughed up by the officers.

“CS Kithure Kindiki and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) it is very unfortunate that police officers at Nyayo house are mishandling the general public and today I fell a victim, roughed up and seriously assaulted. Sustained injuries at my left foot and arm,” Yakub stated.

The UDA MP also alleged that a female police officer heading security at Nyayo House is extorting money from Kenyans who are seeking passport services on the premises.

Yakub further claimed that five other MPs from the North Eastern region have been humiliated by security officers at Nyayo House.

“There is a policewoman heading the security there. She collects money from Kenya Somalis who applied for a Passport in order for them to access the premises and she verily mishandled most NEP MPs. Am the 6th MP to be humiliated by that contingent. Waziri take action,” he added.

CS Kindiki in August and September made a series of impromptu visits to Nyayo House in a move to eradicate corruption and ensure efficiency in the printing and collecting of passports.

He disclosed that his ministry had launched a crackdown on cartels extorting applicants for passports.
