Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja is among the ranking dignitaries attending the finals of the Cleo Malalah Super Cup soccer tournament organised by the former Kakamega senator.

Malalah who currently sits in the UDA party executive as the interim secretary general organises the soccer tournaments yearly bringing together local teams from across the larger western region comprising five counties.

This year's edition happens to be the fifth since the inaugural one in 2018.

The Nairobi governor landed at the Mumias Sports Complex on the afternoon of Saturday, December 30, to grace the finals of the sporting event.

The aircraft touched at the centre of the emptied playing ground as teams prepared for the semis ahead of the finals.

To welcome the governor would be Malalah with his entourage.

The winners of the cup would take home KSh 3 million.

Malalah had earlier announced that President William Ruto would attend the match.


In August this year, Sports CS Ababu Namwamba attracted criticism after landing at the centre of the Bukhungu Stadium playing ground during a match.

He was attending the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) ball games.

Namwamba landed on the pitch aboard a helicopter, bringing an ongoing match to a pause.
