“By Wednesday any parent found with a child at home will be arrested."

Keiyo South Member of Parliament Gideon Kimaiyo has given parents in his constituency with form one students an ultimatum to ensure they report to school.

In a statement on Monday, February 5, Kimaiyo gave the parents up to Wednesday, February 7 to ensure their children have reported to form one.

The UDA MP warned that parents who will fail to do so will face arrests.

“By Wednesday any parent found with a child at home will be arrested. Through the office of DCC working with all chiefs, we shall ensure 100% transition to form,” Kimaiyo stated.

The Keiyo South MP noted that any student who scored 250 marks and above in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) should report to school by Tuesday promising to take care of the school fees.

“Any child with 250 marks & above and still at home should report to school by tomorrow Fanyeni Shopping. Your MP will take care of school fees,” he stated.

Kimaiyo also directed parents with students who scored below 250 marks in the 2023 KCPE to enroll them in day schools saying they are free.

He further noted that he promised the people of Keiyo South constituency that any child with 350 marks and above will not stay at home and he has delivered the promise.

This comes days after the Ministry of Education announced that 91 percent of the 2023 KCPE candidates have reported to secondary schools.

Data from the ministry shows that about nine percent of the learners are yet to transition to Form One.

Form One learners started reporting to various schools on Monday, January 15.
