Businessmen and various firms operating at the Bazaar Plaza have been left stranded after a huge fire broke out in the early morning.

The fire broke out from one side of the building located in the Central Business District (CBD) with preliminary reports alleging that it started from one office block.

Bazaar Plaza houses various businesses and several institutions including a branch of Moi University, law firms, electronic shops, restaurants, and other amenities.

However, the fire did not spread far as firefighters responded swiftly and started extinguishing the huge fire. Despite challenges in accessing the building, the firefighters managed to put out the fire.

By the time of this publication, authorities had not revealed the cause of the early morning inferno. The damage caused by the inferno had also not been revealed.

The incident comes amid a probe into the Embakasi gas explosion which left six people dead and over 270 others injured.

So far, the owner of the gas plant and several other officials have been arrested in connection with the incident. This followed direct orders from President William Ruto.

Governor Sakaja on his part ordered an immediate operation to shut down gas plants operating within residential areas.

“I have told sub-county admins in all of Nairobi county that if there are illegal activities are going on in your area and has not been reported, you shall answer as well,” said Sakaja.
