Police Officers recovered title deeds dating back to 2016.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives on Friday arrested fake lawyer Boniface Kirima in Nakuru over claims of conning his clients millions of shillings.

Nakuru Police Commander Mohammed Wako said they found a charge sheet on the suspect which indicated he had previously been charged over obtaining money under pretense.

“We further managed to see a charge sheet which indicates that this man has been charged before in a court of law for obtaining money by false pretense with an intention that he can process a title deed and run a transaction of land,” Wako stated.

LSK Ethics Committee Chairperson Linda Kiome said the suspect has been involved in over a hundred land cases.

She also mentioned that they discovered title deeds dating back to 2016 with some of them being fake.

“We have seen title deeds that are supposedly held in favor of some clients and more than a hundred title deeds are in this office, some of them have the original seal of the land registry others have a fake seal from the year 2016 up to date,” Kiome stated.

The arrest is part of the ongoing crackdown by LSK on quack lawyers in the country. More than thirty fake lawyers have been since the crackdown kicked off.

In 2023, LSK exposed Brian Mwenda who was masquerading as a lawyer after stealing the identity of another lawyer who had the same name as his.
