President Ruto accepted the offer noting that it was a privilege that his Kenya Kwanza administration would utilise to advance economic and diplomatic ties.

US President Joe Biden has officially invited President William Ruto and Rachel Ruto for a State Visit.

In a statement released on Friday, February 16, the US said it will host Ruto and First Lady on May 23, 2024.

"The upcoming visit will mark the 60th anniversary of U.S.-Kenya diplomatic relations and will celebrate a partnership that is delivering for the people of the United States and Kenya," the statement read in part.

Joe Biden's press team announced the State Visit would be used to seal mutual deals between the two nations including security and expand economic ties.

"The visit will strengthen our shared commitment to advance peace and security, expand our economic ties, and stand together in defence of democratic values. The leaders will discuss ways to bolster our cooperation in areas including people-to-people ties, trade and investment, technological innovation, climate and clean energy, health, and security," the US stated.

"The visit will affirm our strategic partnership with Kenya and further the vision set forth at the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit: African leadership is essential to addressing global priorities," it added.

President Ruto accepted the offer noting that it was a privilege that his Kenya Kwanza administration would utilise to advance economic and diplomatic ties.

"Kenya views the state visit as a high profile opportunity to articulate a new era of dynamic partnership aimed at transforming trade and investment, green energy and climate action, digital technology and innovation, health and human development, peace and security as well as multilateralism and collective action to deliver shared prosperity for Kenya, Africa, the Global South and the entire world."

During the visit, Ruto will receive first-class honours including a military parade and a State Dinner hosted by Biden and Jill Biden.

The last time Ruto went to the US, it was for an Official Visit.
