The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned Kenyans about extremely high temperatures expected during the day throughout this week. 

In an advisory released on Tuesday, February 20, the weatherman indicated that most parts of the country will experience high temperatures above 30°C. 

The high average temperatures will be experienced in Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Kajiado, Makueni, Kitui, Machakos, Nairobi, Kiambu, Embu, Laikipia and Baringo County. 

Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, Bungoma, Kakamega, Kisumu, Busia, and Narok will also experience above-average temperatures.

However, the weatherman indicated that some areas will experience cold nights throughout the week.

"High daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C expected in various counties, while some parts of certain counties may experience low nighttime temperatures below 10°C. Stay prepared for fluctuating weather conditions this week!" Kenya MET indicated.

"Make sure to stay hydrated and protect yourself from the sun's rays during the hot days, and bundle up warmly for the cooler nights. Stay safe and enjoy the diverse weather patterns across Kenya!" the advisory added.

In the weather forecast, Kenya MET announced that some areas will experience moderate rainfall.

"Expect sunny and dry weather across most of the country. However, areas in the South Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands East/West of the Rift Valley, Southeastern lowlands, Coast, and Northeastern Kenya may see light to moderate rainfall."
