Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has paraded a notorious gang leader who is linked to several robbery incidences in the country.

The gang leader identified as Bernard Juma is also reported to have established a link in Uganda which kept his criminal activities going.

According to DCI, the suspect led a five-member gang for a daring robbery at Bishop Sulumeti Chelelemuk Girls Secondary School in the county's Teso North sub-county.

The 45-year-old allegedly led the gang that stole HP laptops and thousands of shillings from the school bursar's and principal's offices.

Crime research detectives who have been analysing the suspect's criminal profile believe that Juma is a gun-hardened felon with links to Uganda from whence he has been hiring rifles for use in armed robberies, until recently when his main Ugandan supplier was arrested and jailed for 40 years.

The detectives have since launched a manhunt for his accomplices who are believed to be armed and dangerous. The detectives are also pursuing leads to establish if he bought some guns from Uganda.

Detectives will also be looking to collaborate with their Ugandan counterparts to build a strong case against the suspect.

"Prosecution processes have since been instigated, with detectives securing custodial orders with a view to hunt down Juma's accomplices and subject the whole ring to justice," DCI's statement read in part.
