United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malalah has dismissed reports of the party banning politicians from appearing in TV interviews alongside Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
In a statement on Saturday, March 16, Malalah flagged a press statement circulating on social media purporting to have been issued by him in his role as UDA General Secretary.
“Ignore the circulation and consider it as fake,” the former Kakamega Senator stated.
According to the fake press release, media houses were accused of conspiring to paint the UDA Party as the home of intellectually challenged people, by pitting against Sifuna during TV talk shows.
The statement also claimed that media houses ambush UDA MPs and Senators with complex questions meant to show that they don’t understand President Ruto’s agenda.

“To avoid further embarrassing episodes, the party is now pulling the plug on the appearance of its members alongside Senator Sifuna in any show, regardless of the media house hosting it. By this communication, members and elected leaders of UDA are henceforth required to confirm with media houses if Sifuna is part of any show they are invited to, and immediately decline the invitation if he is on board,” the fake statement read in part.
It further alleged that the directive was in line with the party’s desire to project President Ruto’s ideologies less embarrassingly.
“This decision is occasioned by the desire of the party to project the ideologies of H.E. Dr. William Ruto, in a way that minimises embarrassment and humiliation to the party and its leadership,” the flagged press release added.
Sifuna has clashed with UDA politicians in several TV interviews, asking them complex questions about the Kenya Kwanza government.
