Former Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) Executive Director Patience Nyange has landed a state role days after being appointed as the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) spokesperson.
In a special gazette notice on Monday, March 25, ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Elius Owalo appointed Nyage as a member of the Multimedia Appeals Tribunal.
The communications expert will serve in the tribunal alongside Rosemary Wacera Kuria, Vivienne Namadoa, Manyura Tiberius Nyangau, Ruth Okowa, Timothy Toroney, and Samson Wambua Kitonyi.
The six will serve in the tribunal for three years with effect from 22nd March 2024.

This comes barely a week after IGAD announced Nyange as the new Spokesperson serving under the Office of the Executive Secretary of IGAD, Dr Workneh Gebeyehu.

Nyange previously served as the AMWIK Executive Director between November 2022 and January 2024.
She has also worked as a presenter at Baraka FM, a journalist at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), and an Associate Broadcast mentor with BBC Media Action.
Nyange then transitioned from mainstream media to Public Relations and worked as a communication advisor to Anne Waiguru when she served as the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Devolution and Planning before taking a new role at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR).
