"You cannot tell us not to discuss matters that concern our people."

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna on Wednesday, March 27 slammed the Presidential Communication Service (PCS) Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam during Rita Tinina’s burial in Narok County.

This is after Talam asked Azimio politicians to refrain from politicking at the funeral and to show the former NTV journalist respect.

Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua had earlier criticized the Kenya Kwanza government claiming that the fake subsidised fertlisers is made of donkey dung.

“From my own experience at a moment like this nothing else is important, I am not saying that to cover for the government or the president but I am talking out of experience. Let's have a little respect; this queen here doesn't know fertiliser, donkeys, Ruto, Wambua, and Olekina. She wants to be comforted,” said Talam.

The PCS Press Secretary’s remarks did not sit well with Senator Sifuna who said Tinina was a journalist and the Azimio politicians should not hide anything.

"Because we are at the funeral of a journalist, a person who was concerned with uncovering things, let's not hide anything. You cannot tell us not to discuss matters that concern our people. If there is something within this government that needs to be questioned, it is the government officials who should be asked. You cannot sell us fertilizers improperly and then tell us not to ask on behalf of the citizens,” Sifuna stated.

Tinina was found dead at her home on Sunday, March 17 afternoon after failing to report to work and answering a phone call from her colleague.

A police report indicated that the deceased had a severe fever that lasted for five days. The report also stated that the journalist was suffering from epilepsy.

An autopsy conducted on the late NTV journalist revealed she died of severe pneumonia.
