KeNHA has announced a temporary closure of some sections of Uhuru Highway.  

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of Uhuru Highway between Hotel Boulevard and the University of Nairobi roundabout. 

In a statement on Thursday, March 28, KeNHA said the section will be unavailable until Saturday, April 6, 2024.

The authority noted that the closure is to allow the construction of a pedestrian tunnel connecting the University of Nairobi Main Campus and the Chiromo Campus.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the Public that there will be temporary closure of Uhuru Highway (A8) between Hotel Boulevard and the University of Nairobi roundabout (Mombasa Bound) from 11.59 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024, to 11.59 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024,” read the statement in part.

KeNHA advised motorists accessing Uhuru Highway from Westlands and Thika Road to use alternative routes such as Harry Thuku Road, University Way, Prof. Wangari Mathai Road, and Kipande Road.

“Follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as shall be directed by Police and Traffic Marshall on site,” KeNHA added.

At the same time, the authority announced that the Uhuru Highway section between the Bunyala roundabout and Haile Selassie Avenue roundabout will be closed from Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 10.00 pm to Sunday, March 31, 2024, at 5.00 am to allow installation of service ducts.

The Uhuru Highway section between Harambee Avenue exit and Haile Selassie roundabout will also be temporarily closed from Friday, March 29, 2024, at 10.00 pm to Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 5.00 am to allow installation of service ducts.
