The OCS suffered arrow injuries on his leg after being attacked by brewers and sellers of illicit alcohol.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has promised to ensure the perpetrators behind the attack on Juja Police Station OCS John Misoi are brought to book.

In a statement on Tuesday, March 2 after visiting Misoi at Avenue Hospital in Thika, Gachagua warned that the Government will not spare anyone found culpable of committing such heinous crimes against officers, and described the incident as an attack against the Government.

“Tough action will be taken against the perpetrators of this attack and anyone who will attempt similar acts against officers leading this fight,” Gachagua stated.

Misoi suffered arrow injuries on his leg after being attacked by brewers and sellers of illicit alcohol in Gachororo, Juja in Kiambu County.

He was admitted to Avenue Hospital where he underwent surgery and the arrowhead lodged in his leg was removed.

DP Gachagua revealed that two suspects behind the attack on the Juja OCS have been apprehended and facing charges of attempted murder.

“There is no letting up and this is part of the resistance that we are facing. We have seen that criminals are exercising impunity to attack officers. These criminals can run but they will not hide. Two suspects have already been arrested and they have been arraigned in court. The prosecutors have successfully been allowed to detain them for investigation and they will be charged with appropriate offenses including attempted murder,” said Gachagua.

The Deputy President further called on police officers not to be discouraged after the attack on the OCS.

DP Gachagua highlighted that the challenges notwithstanding, the fight against illicit alcohol is positive that it would yield the desired results.

“Kenyans are now sober, we are getting good reports that even people who were drinking have given up. The war is 70% won but there is still 30%,” Gachagua added.
