Police have arrested a security guard after CCTV captured a gang raiding a shop and stealing goods valued at Ksh3 million.

One of the armed thieves was recorded in a black hood making frantic efforts to gain access to the customer service area where money is kept.

He physically struggles to go through the opening in vain; moments later the CCTV footage captures his colleagues breaking the door and finally gaining access to the building.

They broke into the premises around 2:00 am and picked up cash which was around Ksh500,000.

They continued with their operation for over an hour which they collected valuables from the shop before leaving.

Speaking following the incident, the owner of the shop indicated that he had lost property worth Ksh3 million.

"They stole money and valuables which are valued not less than Ksh3 million," he stated.

He added that the security guard was apprehended to help the police with the investigations since he did not raise the alarm over the robbery incident.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the suspects who were captured on CCTV robbing the shop.

Also, residents asked the police to expedite the probe and increase security in Kisii due to the recent surge of crime in the area.
