Gospel Singer Emily Kosgei's brother, Meshack Kipkoech, was sentenced to five years in prison.

A court sitting in Eldama Ravine found Kipkoech guilty for reckless driving that caused the death of a 6-year-old boy.

During the hearing of the case, Senior Principal Magistrate John Tamar heard that Kipkoech had knocked down a bodaboda rider on the same day he hit the young boy identified as Birion Kinda.

“Consequently and noting that the accused had previous records of causing death by dangerous driving, I sentence the accused to five years imprisonment,” the magistrate said in his judgement.

“In addition and pursuant to Section 76(1) (a) of the Traffic Act part VIII, I cancel his driving licence and declare him disqualified from obtaining another one for a period of 10 years.”

Kipkoech had another case in 2008 when he killed a police officer where he was convicted and fined Ksh20,000 and in default 12 months in jail.

He was ordered to compensate the family Ksh954,000 for the death of the police officer.
