Chebukati said the ODM boss had fulfilled all the requirements required of him by the commission.

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance Party Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga together with his running mate Martha Karia have been cleared to run for the Presidential elections on August 9, general polls.

Raila was cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

While handing over the nomination certificate to Raila, Chebukati said the ODM boss had fulfilled all the requirements required of him by the commission.

On his part, Raila Odinga thanked the commission, saying they have trust in it to conduct free and fair elections. He also promised to have his team conduct themselves in a good manner that will not contravene the commission's code of conduct.

" We have confidence that the IEBC has got the capacity to conduct free and fair elections. We urge you to live by the expectations of the people of Kenya. We promise you that we are going to conduct ourselves as candidates and members of our movement as per the constitution of Kenya. We want to see free and fair elections, we want to see Kenyans expressing themselves freely in August general polls," said Raila

At the same time, Raila lauded the media, saying his team has had no issue with it. He said it is their constitutional mandate to report objectively and that not all candidates will be satisfied with their reportings.

"We have many candidates in the August polls and we expect the fourth Estate to play their role objectively and we so far have no reason to complain. We know the media cannot satisfy all our wants and aspirations. We just want to make a free society where freedom of expression is respected," added Raila Odinga
