Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has invoked President Uhuru Kenyatta's name in the Msambweni by-election scheduled for December 15, 2020.

ODM political heavyweights led by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Friday expressed confidence in the party candidate Omar Boga clinching the parliamentary seat that fell vacant following the death of Suleiman Dori.

The leaders said Boga, who has been cleared by IEBC, had the blessings of both  President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Siaya Senator James Orengo said the ODM candidate had the blessings of both President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga and as such would easily carry the day.

"Boga is the ODM candidate and he is also the handshake's choice. This will show all Kenyans that when President Uhuru and Raila Odinga come together, they make an unbeatable force," stated Orengo.

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed said voters should not fall for the candidate flunked by the Deputy President William Ruto. He added that DP Ruto will suffer the same defeat as that witnessed in Kibra where Jubilee's candidate lost to Imran Okoth.

"We defeated them in Kibra and we have done it everywhere. Let the people not think that there's a candidate that has been brought here by the deputy president. In Kenya, we no longer have a deputy president," stated Junet.

ODM party deputy party leader Hassan Joho was among coast leaders at the press briefing where the leaders showed support for the party candidate.

On his part, Boga indicated that he has been in leaders positions before and as such would deliver on his mandate as a member of parliament.
