Three young siblings have been burnt to death in a house fire in Limuru, Kiambu County.

The three are said to have been left alone by their mother who had gone to a nearby shop, unfortunately, the fire broke out while she away.

Efforts to rescue the kids were futile as the fire was so strong due to the heavy winds that were reported in the area on the fateful day.

“Tulipovunja mlango, tukakuta watoto wote wamechoak, wameungua wote na tulipojaribu kuokoa vitu, hatukuweza kuokoa chochote maana moto ulikua mkuu,” one of the neighbours opined.

Confirming the incident, Limuru Deputy County Commissioner Charles Mukele noted that the three siblings were aged seven and below.

He urged parents to closely watch over their children, adding that kids below the age of 15 should not be left alone at night.

Commenting on the fire, Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi noted that he was saddened by the incident and urged parents to be vigilant with their kids.

He also called for sensitization campaigns on issues to do with raising of children.

“We need to have strategies of educating people on incidences such as accidents, burns and other issues. We need to safeguard our society today and years to come,” Wamatangi told The Star.
