During the arrest, Ksh156,421 was recovered which was in US dollars (1,396).

Detectives said the suspect who is a Somali national had at around 2am approached a police officer on patrol and cunningly sought information from him that he found suspicious.

When the officer hesitated to respond, the suspect offered a reward of Ksh180,000 in exchange for the information.

“The suspect sought to know on which day of the week a popular joint along Lang’ata road, hosts the largest number of patrons,” said DCI.

“The officer was puzzled by the questions from the suspect, who posed as an ordinary civilian seeking general information.”

The officer on patrol then raised the matter with his colleagues who responded immediately and arrested the suspect.

This comes a few days after the National Police Service (NPS) issued a Ksh 10 million reward for a number of wanted terror suspects.

In a poster on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, the DCI called upon members of the public to share any information regarding the terror suspects who had since gone missing.

"WANTED TERRORISTS!! A reward of Sh10 Million will be offered to anyone who volunteers information leading to the arrest of any of the following terror suspects. Dial 0800 722 203 to report anonymously," the DCI stated.
