In the recent past, Garissa, Mandera and Wajir counties have experienced terror attacks that are suspected to have been executed by the dreaded Al-Shabaab militants.

Last month, a police officer was shot dead by gunmen in Marsabit town. According to reliable reports, the deceased cop, Corporal Ahmed Mohamed Sheikh, was shot by gunmen who were riding on a motorbike.

Following the incident, more police officers were deployed in the region to curb any more attacks by suspects.
