The bishop is seeking Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Jesus is Alive Ministries (JIAM) presiding bishop Margaret Wanjiru has come under heavy criticism after her promise to Nairobi residents if she is elected as the county boss in the August polls.

Speaking at a church service on Sunday, the bishop said that she would bring reforms to the boda boda sector 100 days after being elected to office.

However, her remarks did not go well with a section of Kenyans online.

In a series of screenshots captured by Nairobi Leo from a post by Citizen TV, netizens fiercely took on the bishop as others asked her to shelve her political ambitions and focus on God’s work.

During the service, Bishop Wanjiru also asked the government to allow boda boda riders to operate within Nairobi CBD.

“There are businesses in the CBD, we need riders, we need people to move from point A to point B. I plead on their behalf that they should also be allowed to operate within the CBD,” she stated.

The bishop is seeking Nairobi’s top job under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party which is set to announce Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday as the party’s presidential flag bearer.

Wanjiru is expected to battle it out with Nairobi senator Sakaja who are both in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance that brings together UDA, ANC and Ford-Kenya parties.
