Deputy President William Ruto's camp has hit out at ODM leader Raila Odinga for allegedly refusing to commit to accept the outcome of the August 9, 2022, General elections.

In a statement on Thursday night, March 17, DP Ruto's campaign secretariat Head of Communications, Hussein Mohamed penned a hard-hitting letter, calling upon the former premier to commit to accepting the results of the upcoming general police.

Mohamed noted that Odinga had allegedly failed to commit to unconditionally accept Presidential election results in his engagements at Chatham House on Wednesday, March 16.

"Hon. Odinga issued veiled conditions for his acceptance of the will of the people. He was categorical that only "IF" the election is free and fair and he wins or loses will he accept the result. He again repeated, "SO LONG AS, it's free and fair."

"The fairness or lack of, in an election, is not and cannot be determined by any candidate's subjective opinion of the results. Kenya has institutions to determine the validity of the election," the statement read in part.

"We have heard remarks alluding to the fact that if there was no "Handshake", he, Hon Raila, would have continued to hold our beloved country at ransom and made it impossible to progress peacefully despite him boycotting the repeat presidential elections and swearing himself in as president."

Mohamed noted that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has already publicly committed to accepting the outcome of the August general polls.

"No 'BUT'S', No `IF'S'. This commitment and guarantee should be made to Kenyans and the rule of law must always prevail," the statement concluded.
