More than 800 students from slum areas were selected to join national schools.

Affirmative action was used to place the students in slums in the national schools.

The CS said all the 1.2 million students will get opportunities in secondary schools adding that the government is prepared to receive them.

School principals were directed to allow students with fees challenges to report to school and let the parents sort school arrears later.

Magoha says most students were not guided in the selection process leading to most national schools receiving an overwhelming number of applications.
