The party said nominations have been canceled to give room for consensus among aspirants

Hours remaining before the United Democratic Party (UDA) Conducts nominations in a number of constituencies across the country, the party has canceled nominations in two Rift Valley constituencies.

According to UDA's National Elections Board, the party has canceled its nominations in Narok South and Kilgoris constituencies that were slated for Tuesday, April 19.

Speaking to a local publication on Monday, April 18, UDA Party returning officer John Gatuma said the nominations which were initially slated for the 14th of April had been canceled to give room for consensus among aspirants.

The party said it is reaching out for a consensus between three Narok South aspirants; David Mayone, Mopel Sena and Kitilai Ntutu, a move that will see one aspirant picked to carry UDA's flag in August general polls.

"It is true the nominations for Kilgoris and Narok South will not be happening. I was informed by the party's NEB to hold on as consensus is still in the process," said Mr. Gatuma as quoted by Daily Nation.

The decision was arrived at after the current MP Mr. Korei Lemein ditched the UDA party and announced that he will be defending his seat on an independent ticket. Lemein took the decision after his bid to be given the party's direct ticket was downplayed by the three aspirants.

In Kilgoris constituency, the party is consulting with the two aspirants, John Ololtuaa and Joel Tasur in order to mutually have one candidate who will carry the party's flag.

Among those leading the negotiations between UDA aspirants are Narok Governor Samuel Tunai and Patrick Ole Ntutu, who will be flying the party's ticket for the county's top seat.

UDA will on Tuesday, April 19, carry out nominations in Nandi Hills constituency and a number of wards in Trans Nzoia county, Moiben constituency in Uasin Gishu, Kieni, Mombasa and Kimilili.

The party will also conduct nominations on Wednesday in a number of constituencies including Embakasi Easy, Roysambu, Dagoretti North, Mathare, and Kamukunji in Nairobi. On Thursday, the party will also continue with its nominations in Mogotio constituency in Baringo and Kilome in Makueni county
