The DP is set to have a crucial meeting with the top leadership of the United Democratic Alliance party.

Deputy President William Ruto has convened a crucial meeting that will help in arriving at his preferred running mate.

Ruto is set to meet with the top leadership of the United Democratic Alliance party at a hotel where they will hold talks on who is suitable to take the post.

This is another indicator yet that the DP will not run as Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate but as UDA.

A report by a local daily indicates that the DP's crucial retreat with UDA's top brass leaders will be held on Sunday and Monday next week.

One of the UDA officials disclosed that they ould discuss the modalities of picking DP Ruto's running mate.

This comes after local media reports indicated that the DP had told the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang'ula that he has made up his mind to pick a running mate from the Mt Kenya region.

Mudavadi is said to have been given a Finance Cabinet Secretary job while Wetang'ula will be made the Senate Speaker.

Members of Ruto's presidential think tank are expected to join the crucial meeting,

It is however unclear whether the Kenya Kwanza Alliance team will be a party to it.

The meeting seeks to ensure that the outfit members read from the same script and that those disgruntled are sorted to minimise divisions.
