Deputy President William Ruto on Monday, May 9 welcomed Governor Amason Kingi to Kenya Kwanza.

Kingi, who is associated with Pamoja African Alliance Party (PAA), has officially joined the coalition led by DP Ruto.

"Karibu Gov Amazon Kingi & PAA party to the alliance of democrats, the free & the willing. Together we stand against strong arm machinations by the oppressors & political racketeers who've exploited us for long. Welcome to the grand march to new possibilities for all Kenyans," Ruto said in a statement.

This comes hours after Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and his Maendele Chap Chap party joined Kenya Kwanza.

"We (Maendeleo Chap Chap) are convinced that the best team to transform Kenya is Kenya Kwanza and the leader to transform Kenya is William Ruto. I am aware that 5 other parties are planning to leave Azimio due to their dishonesty and zoning," the Machakos Governor announced as he ditched the Azimio la Umoja outfit.

Responding to the move by the two governors, Azimio secretariat Executive Director Raphael Tuju noted that they had intelligence the two had been negotiating with DP Ruto for a while.

“Some of them were negotiating with the other side and needed this document for purposes of benchmarking, and since we knew this from our intelligence, there was no reason to continue to engage them,” he told the press.
