Safina Party Presidential Aspirant Jimi Wanjigi's application to be a presidential candidate in the August polls has been rejected by IEBC.

Safina Party Presidential Aspirant Jimi Wanjigi's application to be a presidential candidate in the August polls has been rejected by The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

IEBC turned Jimi away on grounds that he does not have a degree which is one of the requirements for clearance.

Wanjigi is set to graduate from Daystar University in December 2022.

Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya on Monday, June 6, after IEBC declined his application, Wanjigi mentioned that he was moving to court over the decision.

"It is very clear what is going on here, there is a very clear mchujo that is being decided somewhere else and not here, you cannot apply different rules to different people, if this is the intention and your direction as a commission then I fear greatly for the coming election," Wanjigi said.
