The death of Rutto's mother came at a time when the CCM leader was engaged in campaigns in Bomet as he eyes the county's top seat in August polls.

The ex-governor on Monday said that he is focused on bringing productivity to the grassroots as he creates opportunities for young people and women.

"We look forward to having everyone on board as we focus on pushing our agenda of empowerment, bringing productivity back to the grassroots, creating opportunities for our young men and women and changing the livelihoods of our people," Rutto stated.

The CCM leader is also supporting United Democratic Movement (UDA) presidential candidate William Ruto for presidency in the upcoming general election.
