Kalonzo was heckled after trying to defend area MP Racheal Kaki Nyamai from accusations.

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka was heckled and jeered at Azimio la Umoja rally at Ikutha market in Kitui South constituency on Friday, June 17.

Hell broke loose after Kalonzo, who recently rejoined Raila's Azimio la Umoja wagon, tried to drum up support for the area MP and Jubilee party candidate Racheal Kaki Nyamai.

The rally disintegrated into chaos forcing the Wiper boss to cut short his speech on numerous occasions as the seemingly agitated crowd jeered him.

The scuffles worsen after Kalonzo tried defending Ms Nyamai who has been accused of doing little to help in the compensation of land and demolished houses during the construction of the Kibwezi - Kitui highway.

Nyamai was accused of failing to intervene on the issue despite being the chairperson of the Parliamentary Lands Committee in the 12th parliament.

Kalonzo was left in awe and embarrassed in his own backyard as the adamant crowd threw jabs at him and resisted any attempts to be addressed by the embattled legislature despite Kalonzo's pleas. The crowd instead demanded that ODM candidate Onesmus Mumo King be allowed to speak.

"kwenda uko, kwenda uko (go away, go away)" rent the air, forcing Kalonzo to eat a humble pie and paving the way for ODM candidate Mr. King to calm down his supporters.

While exiting the stage, Kalonzo threatened to have Mr. King disqualified from the elections by the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for allegedly disrespecting him and failing to contain his supporters.

“My friend King, even if you’re in our camp Azimio, we are going to disqualify you. Control your supporters,” a visibly angry Musyoka warned as the crowd booed him further.

Kalonzo's Wiper candidate in the constituency Daniel Mutua Ndambuki was also present at the rally but also seemed secluded by the residents in favour of the youthful aspirant Mr. King. The three will be facing each other on August 9, for the seat.
