“Mnanipiga, mnanipiga.. makosa yangu ni gani? Hii sio Kenya," the MP shouted.

Drama ensued on Saturday, July 30, at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega as anti-riot police officers roughed up Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali.

In a video seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, the police were attempting to arrest the lawmaker who seemed to resist being carried to a waiting police vehicle.

At one point, one of his supporters tried to wrestle him from the hands of the policemen but was unsuccessful with the police beating him up.

Washiali was donned in a yellow T-shirt and Kenya Kwanza cap and at one point his cap fell off as he wrestled with the police.

The police forcefully tried to move him to their vehicle but a defiant Washiali stood his ground as he shouted, “mnanipiga, mnanipiga.. makosa yangu ni gani? Hii sio Kenya..”

The incident lasted for a couple of minutes as the police continued to drag him to their Landcruiser without success.

The lawmaker had gone to the Bukhungu Stadium to make arrangements for a rally which was to be attended by Deputy President William Ruto.

The incident came a day after the DP told President Uhuru Kenyatta that he will not be cowed by threats directed at him and his supporters.

A seemingly furious Ruto told the President that he should not be the source of threats to Kenya but unite the nation.

“Nataka nimuombe rais wetu wa Kenya. Tafadhali rais, you should not be the source of threats in Kenya. Wacha Kutisha wakenya. Kazi yako ni kuhakikisha wakenya wote wakae pamoja.

“Be a decent guy. Wacha kujifanya. Wewe unaanza kunithreaten mimi? Ati utanifanya nini? Bora usiue watoto wangu,” a furious DP said in Kapsabet, Nandi County.
