Police in Bungoma County on Tuesday launched a manhunt for Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa over a shooting incident at a polling station that left Opponents' aide dead.

Police in Bungoma County on Tuesday, August 9, launched a manhunt for Kimilili Member of Parliament (MP) Didmus Barasa over a shooting incident at a polling station that left a rival's aide dead.

According to a police report, the DAP-K candidate for Kimilili Mr. Brian Khaemba had gone to witness the counting of votes at the Chebukwabi polling station at around 6 pm. 

On arriving at the polling station with his aide, the incumbent Barasa is said to have ordered Mr. Khaemba not to leave.

However, the aspiring MP's driver Joshua Nasokho reportedly defied the order and ignited the vehicle before Mr. Barasa drew his gun and shot him. 

"After about three minutes, Mr. Brian Khaemba decided to leave the station and headed to his car Reg. No. KCR 050J where Hon. Didmus Barasa followed him in company of four men and ordered them not to allow him(Mr. Brian Khaemba) to leave the place but Mr Khaemba's driver one Joshua Nasokho defied the order and ignited the vehicle.

"Hon. Didmus Barasa withdrew a pistol and aimed at Mr Khaemba's aide namely Brian Olunga and shot him on the forehead where profusely bleeded.He was rushed to Kimilili sub-county hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment. Body lying at the hospital. Sccio Kimilili dealing," part of the report read.
