The lawmaker will be remembered for his lively and hilarious character.

Former Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut is dead.

According to his family, the one-time lawmaker breathed his last on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment at a MediHeal Hospital in Nairobi.

The lawmaker known for his outgoing character was first confined to hospital in September last year after falling off a staircase in a Nairobi joint.

"In July, I missed a step at the hotel and rolled down several metres to the ground; I fainted and was rushed to Nairobi Hospital where I received treatment was discharged," he said in 2021.

He later flew to Dubai for further examination, after which the medics recommended surgery to treat his knee.

His doctors recommend surgery after his condition seemed to worsen.

The politician later suffered other two accidents that left him grounded, occasioning his admission at MediHeal's Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Chepkut's condition would improve with time, allowing him to get on the campaign trail to defend his seat in the August 9 General Election.

He went for the seat on an independent ticket but would be trounced by Samwel Chepkonga of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
