The crowd cheered excitedly as the president's motorcade made its way to the stadium.

President William Ruto has united with residents at the Kericho Green Stadium where he is attending an interdenominational thanksgiving church service.

In the president's company are, among others, his deputy Rigathi Gachagua and a host of other Kenya Kwanza luminaries and prominent clerics.

The president's motorcade made its way to the venue moments past 10:00 am on Sunday, October 16.

He was received with cheers from the attendees who had already assumed their positions in the fully packed stadium.

Towing on the president was his elite security circle which cushioned him from the excited crowd keen on exchanging pleasantries with him.

This adds to a series of other thanksgiving events the Ruto has graced since he was elected president.

The sequence was disrupted last weekend when he flew to Uganda for the country's 60th Independence Day celebrations.

On October 2, Ruto was the chief guest at the AIC Church in Homa Bay town, Homa Bay County.

This was his maiden visit to the region regarded as ODM leader Raila Odinga's backyard since taking over power.

He was accompanied by ICT Cabinet Secretary-designate Eliud Owalo, former Migori governor Okoth Obado, Kharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, PS Julius Jwan, and former Kisumu Senator Fred Outa among others.

Governor Gladys Wanga said that she could not attend the event as she was having other engagements out of the county.

"I wish to extend a warm welcome to The President on behalf of the great people of Homa Bay and request him to feel at home. I am however out of the county on official duty and will therefore be unable to join HE for the church service and have communicated the same to His Excellency," Wanga said.

Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma did not also attend the church service claiming that he lacked means.

"Just got information that President William Ruto will be in Homa Bay today. Welcome. I'm unable to be with you due to lack of means. Let there be better coordination in future so that the MP whose Constituency you're visiting has information and is available to receive you," he said.
