A police officer attached to the Moyale Police Station turned the gun on himself after fatally shooting two of his colleagues.

A Moyale-based police officer has taken his life after fatally shooting his two colleagues.

As indicated in a statement filed at the Moyale Police Station via OB NO.09/23/10/2022, the officer got out of his house on the morning of Sunday, October 23, embarking on a shooting spree.

Identified as Lawrence Kumber, the officer found his colleague, namely Noah Odero, who had come back from the armory and was going back to his house to pick something.

Kumber picked a huge stone with which he hit Odero on the forehead making him fall onto the ground; the former picked Odero's firearm after stoning him.

Armed with Odero's rifle, Kumber made his way to the armory within the station.

He found another officer, a Francis Kokwe, and others who had gone to pick up arms for the day's duty.

At the armory, Kumber opened fire fatally wounding two officers in charge of the arsenal.

One of the deceased officers has been identified as Ezekiel Matete.

He also shot at another officer, an Abass Mohammed, injuring him on the left shoulder.

After the shootings, the killer officer went back to his house, where he locked the door from the inside before fatally injuring himself in the chin using the firearm.

Odero, who had earlier been stoned, and Abass were rushed to the Alhilal Hospital in Moyale town.

The bodies of the deceased officers currently lie at the Moyale sub-county Hospital morgue as detectives try to establish the motive of the killings.
