Petroleum PS Andrew Kamau has stated that the fuel shortage being experienced in most parts of the country will end by Wednesday, April 6, 2022.

Speaking during an interview on NTV, PS Kamau noted that the Government owed oil marketing companies Sh 13 billion adding that the money would be paid by Tuesday.

"I suspect by Wednesday the stations will have fuel but there'll have no queues. it's a temporary issue," he said.

The PS mentioned that the fuel shortage was caused by the delay in the subsidy payout which led to oil marketers running out of cash flow.

"This is a classic run, I mean, it is the same if you go to the bank if we all go to the bank to get our money out, they do not have money just sitting there, it is the same with petrol stations, they need to get it from the tank to the petrol stations.

"I saw a photo of people in the paper today with jerrycans, I mean when is the last time you saw people buying fuel in jerrycans?" I mean it is unusual," PS Kamau stated.
