Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua on March 11 ordered the arrest of the Omondi and his crew for allegedly subverting provisions of the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya.

Mutua stated that the show, which airs on Omondi's YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram channels was yet to be submitted before KFCB for review.

“No film or class of film shall be distributed, exhibited, or broadcast, either publicly or privately, unless the Board has examined it and issued a certificate of approval in respect thereof,” KFCB's Plays Act reads in part.

Mutua took to social media on March 12, to inform members of the public that the decision to arrest and charge Omondi was not meant to strain creativity in the country.

“The war is not against artistes or the youth. It’s against dirty content. The intention is not to harass artistes or stifle creativity. The idea is to promote clean content and protect children against exposure to adult content!” Mutua stated.

Police officers nabbed Omondi yesterday along Mombasa Road before proceeding to arrest 17 female contestants in Nairobi's Kilimani Estate.

They were all taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations offices in Central Division, Nairobi for interrogation.
