Waihiga Mwaura will be joining BBC as the new presenter of Focus on Africa TV.

Renowned news anchor Waihiga Mwaura’s Wife Joyce Omondi has wished him all the best as he leaves the Royal Media Services (RMS) to join BBC.

Omondi in an update via Twitter on Tuesday, May 2 told the outgoing News Night anchor to keep shining as he leaves Citizen TV.

“Shine on, my love,” Omondi stated.

Waihiga in a statement earlier revealed that he would be anchoring his last episode on Tuesday night before heading to BBC.

“After 14 amazing years at Royal Media Services (Citizen TV), my time here has come to an end. My next stop is BBC News BBC Africa specifically Focus on Africa. I'll share more details soon, but in the meantime, see you on my last episode of #Newsnight at 9 pm,” he tweeted.

According to an internal communication seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, Waihiga will be the new presenter of Focus on Africa TV.

"I am delighted to let you know that Waihiga Mwaura will be the new presenter of Focus on Africa TV. Waihiga is a respected, award-winning, and talented Kenyan journalist with engaging storytelling and presentation skills,” the statement read in part.
