Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is one of Kenya's senior politicians who's managed to completely keep their private life off the media.

Not much is known about her faith, save for the fact that she is married to renowned lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.

In a recent interview, Waiguru opened up on how she met Waiganjo and what happened before they decided to get married.

According to the Kirinyaga Governor, she knew Waiganjo while she was still married, noting that they shared a chapel and he was in the same circles as his ex-husband.

She narrated that her relationship with Waiganjo started out with an argument, after which it developed into a friendship that eventually saw them getting married.

Opening up on the argument that created a foundation for their relationship, Waiguru disclosed that they were both part of the Constitution writing team.

Waiganjo was among the legal minds that formed a technical team selected to draft the Constitution, while Waiguru was representing the National Treasury and offering expertise on clauses relating to financial matters.

"That is where we started arguing because he was trying to tell me what to write, and I told him, "Since you are the expert, write it. Why were you calling me from the Treasury if you think you know?" We took a few bets on some clauses, I won a few. Then from there, we became friends," Waiguru told Business Daily

Following the argument, the two ended up being good friends, however, Waiguru maintained that she was not interested in dating.

She added, "I insisted for about three years that I was not interested in dating. We were good friends. We used to say we're just coffeeing, right? So people would ask what are you doing? I'd say I'm coffeeing. I had told him I had no desire to get married again, that I was raising my children, I had a career path. So, he fit the bill. He was a good friend."

However, things changed and the two decided to tie the knot in July 2019. Their wedding was attended by top politicians including retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, ex-vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga among others.
