President Uhuru Kenyatta will attend the burial of Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji on Monday, February 15, 2021.
This was announced by Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i during the funeral service of the late Mzee Simeone Nyachae.
Matiang'i asked the speakers to be brief in their speeches to save time for the leaders who will be attending Mr. Haji's burial.
After learning of the demise of Mzee Haji, President Uhuru Kenyatta sent a message of comfort to the family, acquaintances, and residents of Garissa County.
Senator Haji, a former long-serving Provincial administrator, and Cabinet Minister passed away Monday morning aged 80 years.
In his message of condolence, the President eulogised the veteran politician, who until his death was the chairperson of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Taskforce, as a dependable Kenyan leader and patriot.
The President said the death of Senator Haji was a big blow to the country especially in the BBI constitutional reform process where his leadership shall be dearly missed.
Uhuru wished the family, friends, and relatives of the departed leader God's comfort as they come to terms with his demise.
