Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has been arrested.

The vocal legislator was arrested on Monday night for allegedly flouting Covid-19 guidelines.

In a Facebook post, Moses Kuria confirmed the arrested, noting that he was being held at Karuri Police Station in Kiambu.

He is set to be presented before a Kiambu court today over charges of flouting Covid-19 guidelines.

“Arrested! Held at Karuri Police Station. Kiambu Court tomorrow,” Kuria posted on his Facebook page.

Sources privy to the arrest noted that the legislator was arrested at a hotel along the Northern bypass where he was holding a meeting which reportedly contradicts the Covid-19 guidelines issued by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Reacting to the arrest, Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata claimed that Kuria had been arrested for fielding a candidate in the upcoming Juja Parliamentary by-election.

Kang’ata noted that he’ll appear in court and represent Moses Kuria on pro bono basis.

“I hear Moses Kuria has been arrested for fronting a candidate in Juja.I hear his candidate is strong. Don't worry bro, I am coming to court to offer pro bono services. Since time immemorial, good political things are obtained by weeping, wailing, mourning, and gnashing of teeth,” he tweeted.
