Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata has divulged that the Hustler brigade led by Deputy President William Ruto is ready to work with ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead of the 2022 general election.
Senator Kang’ata, however, noted that the DP’s team can only work with Odinga if he relinquishes his bid and vows to support Ruto.
“If Raila was to come and support Ruto, from where I sit I don’t see any problem. In fact the better. So long as he doesn’t come to our side and say that he wants to become the presidential candidate. That’s the only time we can have a problem because our candidate is only one; William Samoei Ruto.
“So, if Raila Odinga was to say I want to defect and I endorse William Ruto, the better…” Kang’ata said during an interview on Wednesday night.

On his part, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang noted that the idea of Raila ditching ODM and endorsing Ruto is impossible.
“There are a lot of conspiracy theories…The scenario of Raila defecting to Kang’ata’s side is like telling the mountain to come to the man,” Kajwang said in part.
Meanwhile, close allies of DP Ruto and Raila have maintained that there are no existing coalition talks between the two leaders at the moment.
