The police incident report indicates that Mr. Muyundo had been receiving incessant calls from Ms. Chemutai.

With the nation in a heightened state of paranoia, Mr Muyundo reported to Kiminini Police Station that he suspected the killer cop Carol Kangogo was after him.

The police then set up a trap for the caller who turned up for the meeting with Mr Muyundo while accompanied by a colleague.

Mr Muyundo shot the victim immediately she identified herself as Chemutai, a name she shares with Caroline Kangogo.

The victim has since been admitted to Kitale Referral Hospital where she is recuperating.

Lawyer Cliff Ombeta has expressed optimism that an out of court settlement could be reached as the accused did not intend to shoot Ms Chemutai.
